For the Love of Self

How often have you visited a doctor or healer to fix a problem? It's a normal brand of thinking to say 'fix my sore spot so that I feel better'. Yet it doesn't address the creator of the sore spot - you. It's like replacing a broken glass window with a piece of plastic - soon enough the flimsy plastic solution will fail and we are left with the same gaping window space that caused us to seek help in the first place.

All maladies arise from some form of discontent, nonacceptance or lack of self-love. So when you have a 'sore spot' it is fundamental to deal with the underlying lack of self-love that cause it. Until you can find acceptance of all that you are, you will keep creating and recreating sore and broken aspects of your life.

We have been taught to love the 'good parts' of ourselves and life, and protect against the 'bad parts'. This means we continually disassociate from all that we are. The way to unity of self and of the whole is through embracing all, as it is.

I love that you are. I love that I am. No matter what.

When certain aspects are unacceptable to this universal embrace it is impossible to unite within as a fully functioning human or as part of a fully functioning universal Whole. It becomes a 'less than universal embrace', with rejected flotsam hovering around chasing us, yearning to be held in unconditional love. This is what we do to ourselves when we try to Bandaid our sore spots - we create flotsam.

Instead of going into a healing session and asking for help to fix a sore spot, ask instead for help in accepting all that you are, of unequivocally embracing the very self-rejection that causes the malady. This is opening to grace. This is where all freedom and healing lies.

Love at The Helm

Let's talk about the way we operate in work and life. Our words and thoughts are like software that operates within the hardware of our bodies. There is no separation, so what we say and think directly moves our breath, directs our physicality and become us.

Through conditioning and other factors, we have become hard-wired to act and react violently to ourselves and the world. This violence appears through our thoughts, our words and eventually our actions. Sometimes it is so subtle, perhaps just a simple thought like 'I shouldn't have put that sugar in my coffee'. A very small dagger in the chest, a tiny trail of life-blood seeping gently out. And we will tell ourselves that such small reprimands exist in the name of love, that we are only noting how we are not loving ourselves in order to change that. Yet it is impossible to unlove something back to a state of love.

Often, unconsciously, our words and thoughts contain incredible self-violence, again frequently hidden in the guise of improvement or achievement. Consider the way you relate to creating improvement in your life, whether business or personal. What thoughts and judgements move you? What words and descriptions leave your mouth? What types of action do you take? How present is love within the software of you? How attuned are you to your natural state of inner goodness?

There is no way to ‘kick arse’, ‘smash it’ or hustle your way to the top and operate from love at the same time. The energies are different. They feel different. Love embraces, accepts and welcomes. Kicking arse hits out and pushes – there is inherent violence in it, a need to use forceful thought/word/action to alter something about life. Love, on the other hand, holds the pain of what it is you wish to alter. It accepts, with gentility the anguish that causes the violent thought or action. It has the power to hold you through the situation.

Within love's embrace - our inner goodness - there is a change of energy. There is no longer a need to bust anything open, but an understanding of being 'already enough', an acceptance of peace within this thing you once thought you had to smash and alter. Love teaches us that there is nowhere to get to and nothing to become because we are already all that we need. We are perfectly positioned in every moment to know ourselves and love ourselves in all our facets.

In that place of understanding the love within, nothing needs to be smashed or kicked or criticised, just held and transformed. Make love your operating system.

The Humour of Love

Love shows me that we are all one, part of a giant universal embrace. It is peaceful yet so humorous. Everything loses its seriousness from this place of ‘we are one’, where there are none better, none worse, no matter how you look at it. We are a brilliant bunch of 'uncos' tripping over each other; mostly bombastically, mostly trying to out-do each other, often in a ‘pissed off’ frame of mind as we grapple to climb upon each others shoulders to a higher level that doesn't exist within love. Love is squished at the bottom just as it is dancing at the top. Love shakes hands with it all and makes it so very funny. It makes my scuffed shoes and my sad bank balance worth a giggle because they are not truly me!

I adore the wisdom of love because it renders us all equal in our brilliance and error on a human level, and all utterly undivided and complete on a wholeness level. From this place, this glimpse, I see so clearly that it is all me, that there is no separation from anything. So when someone carries on and causes a kerfuffle, it is me reflecting me reflecting me reflecting me. There is no escaping me! How funny and delightful and hilarious. It removes the thrust for performing, for being significant because I can’t NOT be significant. There is no trying for this significance of who I am, just as insignificance perfectly sums me up too. I am all of it, we are all of it. Can you feel the sigh of freedom in that? Couldn't you just pack it all up and take your happy back home?

I cannot see anything as ‘less than’ any more. Even the pain. There is so much intelligence to it, so much brilliance and wisdom. If I hurt, I can feel that hurt, take it into my heart and let it be held there, let it be welcomed and forgiven and accepted for its own truth. This is the power of love. It is radical, beautiful, peaceful, absolutely transformative. What else can I say when words fail me so profoundly? No doubt I will say a lot more, if only to reinforce that love is our freedom.

Let Love Break You Open

If you truly open yourself to love it will break you open.

It will break the judgement you had about yourself, and collapse those protective walls. It will crack the seal between you and others with the pure recognition that they are you, you are them, that there is only one thing. So vast.

We are all shards of the same mirror, little pieces, expressions, reflecting different aspects of what looks in and what looks out, yet we are one and the same. In this recognition lies the freedom to be as you are and to allows others to be as they are. No more significance, no more rush, no more need. Just a great sigh of freedom.

That is the great power of love.

Love Holds You

In many ways love is so simple. It just is. It is acceptance and holding. Love holds you no matter what.

Love in its pure form has no boundaries. If you find yourself defining boundaries regarding where, who, why, when or how much you will love, know that your love is conditional. Love, in its purity has no conditions. It pours forth like a waterfall with great momentum and purpose. You cannot hope to stop it.

If you can put exceptions on love, then what you are expressing or experiencing is a pinched-off version of love tarnished by expectation. Love does not hold expectation. It just is as it is, untarnished, unwanting, absolutely filled by its own state of being. Love is fulfilled, which is the very reason it does not know how to withhold.

We are all supported by the love of the divine, whether we know it or not. Try loving without withholding. Love the people you would usually despise. Love their frailty, their misconception, their hard-luck, their ignorance, their loss. Love that they ARE.

If there is a small voice that calls you weak because you love in the face of pain or degradation, let it speak, and then speak for yourself, speak for the love that you are.

Love. And then love. And then love more. Find yourself renewed.

Love - The Almighty Free Radical

You love someone, perhaps many? So truly love them. Give them all the grace of the love within you, the grace that you are. Allow the feeling of 'loving anyway', of 'loving because'. Love for the experience of loving with your whole self - it is a gift to both giver and receiver.

Let love offer peace when your mind would shout of injustice or disrespect. What does love know of these states? Nothing. Love does not exist in such places just as they do not exist in love.

Love and then love, and when you think your heart will burst because it cannot take it, love more still. Let it explode your boundaries and disintegrate your being. Let it melt the framework that you define as you.

Let love make the calls in your life rather than handing the reigns to expectation or social norm or 'acceptable' practice. Love does not know these rules and boundaries because it is free. It is the true, almighty, free radical. Love is the answer, the wisdom, the only rule. If it is anything less, then it is not love.

And when you are able to experience love deep within your being, within your cells, unreservedly and without condition, you will know the truth of yourself.

Love I Am

Love is an essence, a presence, a pure expression of the divine mind – the one true connection back to God. It is a deeply natural state and when it rests within you, as the very essence of your being, it is an eternal flame that can never be extinguished.

Perhaps you don't feel so love-filled right now. In this world of density and dual expression, where opposites exist freely, it is not always easy to remember that which you are by nature. Burdens cling and judgements form, muffling the pure ‘ring of truth’ inside. Yet you have never been anything less. Your very spirit is the great creative force of love.

Embodying love is possible for anyone. It is a gentle and humble position of allowing that which you already are. It is not an act of doing, becoming or trying. It is not about being more loving in thought and idealistic intention, it is about rising up from your bones and feeling it within every cell. It is about coming home to your true nature.

Are you willing?
